Mark Felix

Mark Felix at 54 is one of the strongest men in the world and at 50 smashes societies and the negative media's thoughts that you can't excel as a pro Athlete after 50. There are more pro Athletes over 50 than ever before and in brutal sports. Proving that a bad game or season could be just that a bad game or season could be just that and have nothing to do with a number. Work harder, stay positive and don't listen to anyone but you and what you believe.

Mark Jackson

In early 2015 54 year Mark Jackson completed a world record 4321 pull ups in under 24hrs. Beating the previous mark set by pro Athlete Caine Eckstein.

Dewey Bozella

Dewey Bozella won his Pro Boxing debut at age 52 after being wrongly convicted of Murder and serving 28 years in Prison.

Tony Hawk

Anthony Kiedis

"I like the idea of defying the convention of what it is to be in your 50s, or 60s, or 70s. Discovering surfing at this stage of my life is definitely going to keep me active till the day I die. So, yeah, I accept the challenge… In the same way that [the late American exercise and nutritional guru] Jack LaLanne did—doing things in his 70's that no man on earth could do: pulling tugboats across the San Francisco Bay with his teeth."

Steve Herman

Meet Steven Herman, a 57-year old New Yorker who looks 20 years younger, though says if everyone looks after themselves it could be more normal. He calls himself the "world's oldest beginner fitness model" as he started in his late 40's which proves age is only number and no matter what your age and you want to be a fitness model then go for it.

Steve Herman

At 49 years and 141 days, competing on behalf of Israel at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the Marathon, he was the oldest track and field athlete competing at the 2004 Olympics. At 53 years and 136 days, competing on behalf of Israel at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.

At 57 Years old they say his Marathon times were still good enough to qualify for the 2012 Summer olympics

Masahiro Yamamoto

BUTCH HAYES

"If more people didn't believe the media, or negative society there would be more Athletes ignoring the number they are and not just excelling but I believe breaking records even after the age of 50 or 60, The media love to tell an Athlete they are too old just after one bad game, one bad run, but that mainly because they are afraid to do it themselves. But once the Athlete has a good game again, a good run they are back on board" "Ignore the haters and as long as you still love what you are doing and competing at a high level keep going because you are still better than those behind you"

Jamie Moyer

Jamie Moyer finished his MLB career at 50 while still being one of the best pitchers in the league when he played.

If it wasn't for an unfortunate elbow injury he would probably still be in the league today.

Jonathan Matthews

"If your still good enough you are still good enough, age should not stop you, it should be up to the person who wants to take your spot on merit not because you turned a certain number"

At 56 Jonathan Matthews narrowly missed out on making the 20km American racewalk team for the 2012 London Olympics and even now is still one of the best in America.

Matthews started around 36 years old, he won the national race and continued to stay near the top for the next seven years. He temporarily gave up the sport to spend more time with his wife and kids in 2000, after finishing fourth in the Olympic trials and just missing out on the Games.

Matthews continued light fitness workouts and mountain biking during his time away from race walking, but decided to start training seriously again when he turned 50.

“I decided it might be fun and good for my health to try to get back in shape,” he said, "Age means nothing, if you are good enough you are good enough, simple"

Nancy Lieberman

Nancy Lieberman On July 24, 2008, at 50 years old, Lieberman signed a seven-day contract with the Detroit Shock. She played well but supposedly at training which as an assistant coach was still one of the best players in the team and could have probably continued to play the whole season if it wasn't for coaching commitments.

Rodney Mullen

51 Year old Rodney Mullen is one of the best

freestyle skaters in the world, here is his latest amazing skate video completed in 2016 with new tricks that no one has done before.

George Hood

George Hood at 57 set a new world record in March 2015 in Oceanside, California, when he planked for 5 hours and 15 minutes, beating the previous Guinness World Record of 4 hours and 26 minutes set by by Mao Weidong of Beijing, China,

Willie Gault

Willie Gault who at 51 ran a 10.88 in 2011 for the 100m sprint which would see him qualify for the olympics with most countries. That time also would have been a world record for quite awhile when the Modern Olympics first came back in.

Michael Justin

Michael Justin show's that 50's is the new youth.

Rachel McLish

If you look after yourself there should be no difference between being 25 or 55, if a 18 year old stops taking care of themselves at 18 by the time they are 25 they are going to be weak and look awlful but if they continue to look after themself and do the right thing you realise it can take a bloody long time before you get old.

Merlene Ottey

Merelene Ottey is still competing for Slovenia in open Athletics and even she is on Hiatas

currently you can not write her off until she has officailly retired.

Ottey was the National champion at age 53 with an 11sec 100m sprint.

Merlene Ottey proves to everyone that just because society expects you to stop at a professional level when you reach a certain age doesn't mean you should. Being a professional Athlete means competing against the best, and if you are still the best and you retire just because of an expectation then the competition that is left isn't the best it is it.

Ned Overend is the one we would pick to say that has really been the first one to beat the 60 barrier, still racing professionally and in Elite Mountain biking at age 61 and just competing but winning, Earlier last year at age 59 he won the National Fat bike championship in open against pro athletes half his age.

"Why should you decline performance just because you'reach a certain number, it's when you start thinking that way you will"

In her 50's Meghan Arbogast just keeps getting better. Despite the fact most people believe (Not me) most runners slow down by the time they reach their 50's, even though I don't believe that I sure know neither does Meghan Arbogast.

The Corvallis, Oregon resident and massage therapist and Pro Ultra Runner recently won the Way Too Cool 50K last month at the age of 52, defeating 29-year-old Rory Bosio in the last mile of the race.

Joe Thomas Snr

Joe Thomas Snr enrolled at SC State at age 52 with his son Joe Thomas Jr. and made the team as a scout player in hopes of playing with his Son. Now just to clarify this is Division 1 South Carolina College football

so not just anyone can get a spot. Had it not been for

a 2013 Car Accident where he did his ACL and MCL he probably would have made the Active roster then.

Thomas not one to give up easy smashed the rehab and got his leg's back to running a 4.5 40 yrd sprint. And while during that time Joe's Son got drafted to the NFL Thomas was still just as determined to make

the squad. And on the 19th of November Thomas finally got his chance in his Senior year of Division 1 college football by making the active roster as running back. While some naysayers may say it was a publicity stunt, the fact remains that this is Div 1 football which is just as serious as the NFL and his Coach and team mates all agree that Thomas earn't that spot and that age is not the number in 2016 and if you are good enough to follow your dreams go for it.
